Steven Skala AO was appointed Chairman of Partners Legal Solutions in February 2025, bringing to the firm a wealth of experience across law, business, finance, and the arts. He is also Chairman of the Clean Energy Finance Corporation (CEFC), the Australian Government’s $32Bn renewable energy and energy efficiency financier, a position he has held since 2017. Currently, Steven is the longest-serving Member of the Foreign Investment Review Board (FIRB) of the Australian Treasury. He recently retired from Deutsche Bank AG after more than 20 years’ service as Vice Chairman Australia and Chairman of Investment Banking Coverage.
Steven is Chairman of Heide Museum of Modern Art, a Director of the Centre for Independent Studies, a Member of the International Council of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in NYC, and an Honorary Life Governor of the General Sir John Monash Foundation. An experienced former commercial partner of two major Australian law firms, his previous appointments include Acting Chairman and Director of the Australian Broadcasting Corporation, Chairman of Film Australia Limited, Chairman of the Australian Centre for Contemporary Art, Vice President of the Walter & Eliza Hall Institute of Medical Research, Deputy Chairman of the General Sir John Monash Foundation, Director of The Australian Ballet, Chairman of three ASX-listed public companies (in funds management, agriculture and biotech), and Director of a NASDAQ-listed insurance company.
A former first-class cricketer, Steven holds Arts and Law (Honours) degrees from the University of Queensland and a Bachelor of Civil Law from the University of Oxford. Married with three sons and two granddaughters, Steven was appointed an Officer of the Order of Australia in 2010 in recognition of his service to business and commerce, education, and the arts.
